With the majority of top leagues across Europe coming to an end, it’s time for Major League Soccer to step up. There are plenty of reasons why this campaign has the potential to be incredibly exciting but beyond that, it’s just been nice to see the continued growth and development of the game in North America. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo.
LA Galaxy Form GuideOnce upon a time, LA Galaxy were the most feared team in Major League Soccer - but it’s safe to say that those days are long gone. In the present, they’re still in something of a rebuilding phase, with the big focus being on simply getting back into the playoffs. They have a few impact players here and there, but they’re still a long way off where they need and want to be.
Galaxy have lost just twice in their first 14 games of the season which is a wonderful benchmark to set - but in equal measure, they’ve also drawn seven of those 14 games. They need to be able to kill teams off because if they can’t, they’ll soon struggle when the post-season arrives.
Houston Form GuideHouston Dynamo had a pretty strong end to the season last year and as such, were able to vault their way to fourth spot. In their three-game series with Real Salt Lake, they were taken to penalties on two occasions. They came out on top, went on to defeat Kansas City in the conference semi-finals, and ultimately ran out of gas in a 2-0 defeat to Los Angeles FC.
Nobody really knows what to expect from Houston from week to week and that’s been the case for a while now. They have five wins, three draws and five losses to their name after 13 games with a negative goal difference. They have the best defensive record in the conference, but they also have the worst goalscoring record.
Match PredictionHouston are slowly but surely starting to find their feet this season but with that being said, it still seems as if they’ve got a ways to go before they can really compete with the big boys in the West. The same goes for the hosts, but we do think they have enough in the tank to win this one - which is why we’re backing an LA Galaxy win.
