Celtic vs Feyenoord Prediction (13.12.2023)

We’re getting down to the nitty gritty in the UEFA Champions League as we approach the final matchday for this year’s competition. All 32 clubs involved know what is at stake over the course of the next 90 minutes, with some being in control of their own destiny and others needing a favour. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between Celtic and Feyenoord.

Celtic are a strange club and we don’t think that’s an outrageous thing to suggest. They are so often the kings of Scotland, but in Europe, they either massively let themselves down or they spring an upset out of the blue - there is no middle ground. This has been a season in which they’ve really struggled to get anything going, and that’s something they’ll reflect on in the months ahead.

After losing 2-0 to Fenerbahce and 2-1 to Lazio, the latter of which coming via a 95th minute winner, Celtic were in trouble. They did bounce back with a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid but in the reverse fixture they were battered 6-0, before being handed a late 2-0 defeat by Lazio.

Feyenoord are the reigning kings of Dutch football which is an achievement that they were going after for years. Alas, while they did accomplish that goal, they’ll be forced to settle for Europa League football in the months ahead after a difficult group stage run. Still, they’ve got an exceptionally talented squad, and there are plenty of reasons to believe they can go far in that competition.

Feyenoord, it’s safe to say, have been on quite the rollercoaster ride in this run. They beat Celtic 2-0, then lost 3-2 to Atletico Madrid. They beat Lazio 3-1, then lost 1-0 to the Italians in the reverse fixture. Then, critically, they were beaten 3-1 by Atletico on their home turf.

Feyenoord know what the future holds for them and the same is true for the hosts. While there’s every chance this game could fizzle out without much of a second thought, we tend to think there’s an upset on the cards. Therefore, we’re going to predict a Celtic win.
