Major League Soccer is back in our lives for yet another season of action across North America. We’re in the early stages of the new campaign but there’s already so much to get excited about from West to East, as the majority of teams gear up for a hopeful run to the MLS Cup. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what promises to be an intriguing clash between FC Dallas and CF Montreal.
Dallas Form GuideDallas edged their way into the playoffs and finished in seventh spot in the Western Conference - with some arguing they didn’t belong there based on the campaign as a whole. In the playoffs, in all fairness, they did well to take Seattle to a third game in their best of three series - but they came up on the losing end. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back.
Dallas looked really solid in their back and forth clash with San Jose and when the going got tough, they stepped up in a big way, registering a nice 2-1 victory.
Montreal Form GuideThe city of Montreal flies under the radar when it comes to picking out passionate fanbases. The teams they have behind them are ones built on the shoulders of giants, and the same goes for CF Montreal. They aren’t the biggest and they aren’t the baddest but we do think they’ve got potential to grow, especially in a conference that looks set to be wide open once again.
Orlando served as stiff opposition in their clash with Montreal last weekend and, in many ways, both teams looked a bit hesitant. The end result was a 0-0 draw, and we’re interested to see how they build on that.
Match PredictionWe like the look of this Dallas team this season as they appear to have struck a nice balance up top and at the back. Montreal are going to, in our view, sit deep and hope to hit the hosts on the counter, but it won’t work for too long - with our view being that this game will end in a Dallas win.
