Cremonese vs Empoli Prediction (14.04.2023)

We have two Serie A games on Friday night in Italy, and the first of those sees Empoli travel to face Cremonese, a team currently in the relegation zone and in great danger of being relegated.

After a dreadful period in the first half of the season, Cremonese have finally got some life, and while staying up looks an incredibly tough task for them, they have given themselves a very small chance. They come into the weekend in 19th place, but are 10 points away from safety with nine games to go.

They've won just two games all season, and both of those have come in their last six games, with a record of two wins and one draw from their last six. Their most recent game last weekend was one of the wins they've picked up, coming against the club now at the bottom of the table, Sampdoria, with Cremonese winning 3-2.

Empoli went on a bad run, suffering four defeats in a row, but since then they have halted that by picking up a win and a draw in their last two games. The win was a 1-0 success over Lecce, which was great to stop the losing run, and their draw, which was last weekend, may be an even better result as it came against AC Milan.

All of that has left Empoli in 14th place in the Serie A standings with 32 points, meaning they are 10 clear of the relegation zone going into this weekend. They should be safe, barring something special from the teams below them, but picking up another three points here would certainly help their cause.

A big game for both teams, Cremonese have start getting wins if they want to survive in Serie A, but I don't think they'll get that here. After a poor run, Empoli have been far better over the past two weeks, and they are the pick to get a win here, pretty much cementing their position in Serie A for another season.
