Celta Vigo vs Elche Prediction (26.04.2023)

On Wednesday night, Celta Vigo hosts Elche at the Balaidos as the home side looks to move a step nearer to sealing their place in La Liga for next season.

The home side's promising run of February and March has now ended, and Carlos Carvalhal’s team heads into this clash on the back of a four-game winless run.

Back-to-back league defeats against Mallorca and Real Madrid have Celta once again looking over their shoulders slightly nervously at La Liga’s bottom three. Celta are now just six points clear of the relegation zone in the Spanish top flight.

Los Celestes have a mixed recent home record, as they have won two, lost and drawn one of their previous five La Liga games at Balaidos. Their recent home matches in the Spanish top flight have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last eight league games.

Celta Vigo will be without Augustin Marchesin, Carlos Perez, Oscar Mingueza and Joseph Aidoo due to injuries. The visitors are expected to be missing Jony Alamo, Jose Angel Carmona and Helibelton Palacios through various injury issues.

The recent meetings between these two teams have been low-scoring, as there have been under 2.5 goals scored in nine of the last ten competitive games between the pair. This game could follow suit, so I am backing it to produce under 2.5 goals.
