We’re back with the final international break of 2023 as we continue down the road to UEFA Euro 2024. It’s safe to say that things are really starting to heat up in pretty much every group as nations qualify and make their push to reach the playoffs. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing battle between Poland and Czech Republic.
Poland Form GuideFor years now, it’s felt as if the Poland national team has been going through a golden generation and a half - or, at least, that’s what we’ve been told. Despite that, they’ve never really been able to live up to their potential on the world stage. The Poles are one of the most interesting countries to watch when firing on all cylinders, but inconsistency is a big issue for them.
Poland didn’t exactly blow the roof off of the place when they battled it out with Faroe Islands last month, but they did secure an important 2-0 win. From there, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Moldova to leave them sweating heading into November.
Czech Republic Form GuideCzech Republic have failed to qualify for the World Cup since back in 2006. In the Euros, though, they’ve qualified at every available opportunity as an independent nation, dating all the way back to 1996. They’re a strange team to watch with that inconsistency being at the forefront of their identity, and based on recent evidence, we’d say they’ll make another strong play for the final tournament.
The Czechs were forced to sit back and analyse how everything had gone so wrong as they were humbled 3-0 by Albania in October. Then, just three days later, they were only able to muster up a 1-0 win over Faroe Islands.
Match PredictionBoth teams have some serious pressure on their shoulders and neither will want to give the other an inch, especially when you take the neighbourly rivalry into consideration. It’s going to be a fun game and the end result will be over 2.5 goals scored.
