The Premier League is really up and running in 2024 as we prepare for a scintillating five months of action in the second half of the season. There’s still a lot to play for as we kick on through January and with the transfer window now being open, anything is possible. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an entertaining clash between Burnley and Luton Town.
Burnley Form GuideFor the longest time now, it’s felt as if Burnley were just waiting to kick into a higher gear - but for whatever reason, Vincent Kompany’s boys have failed to live up to the hype. They’re playing good football and can tough it out against pretty much anyone but when it comes to actually getting positive results, they’ve left their fans feeling pretty worried as we enter the new year.
While they were able to get a point against Brighton and beat Fulham either side of Christmas, there are still far more questions than answers with this Burnley side. Since then, the Clarets have fallen to three straight defeats courtesy of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Luton Form GuideLuton Town are in the Premier League and that still feels somewhat strange to say. The Hatters have scratched and clawed to get back to the top after being in the National League not so long ago. As we know, though, the overwhelming expectation is that they’ll head straight back down, which is why they’ll probably be feeling as if they don’t really have much to lose between now and May.
After losing narrowly to Arsenal and Manchester City, the Hatters picked up big wins over Newcastle and Sheffield United. They went on to lose 3-2 to Chelsea after a valiant comeback, and then in the FA Cup, they were held to a surprising 0-0 draw by Bolton.
Match PredictionBurnley and Luton are both in a tricky spot right now but we tend to think that Luton are the ones who should be feeling a bit more confident - but hey, that’s just us. This is going to be a pretty tight game from start to finish, with our prediction being a draw.
