We are edging closer and closer to the end of the Premier League season and things are really starting to heat up at both ends of the table. There are so many things still up in the air and between now and the end of May, we expect to see a whole lot of surprises. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a really intriguing encounter between Brentford and Sheffield United.
Brentford Form GuideFor the first time since being promoted to the Premier League, it does feel as if there’s a bit of panic in the air at Brentford. As a club, they’re still being run very well, and they aren’t in any immediate danger when it comes to the relegation battle. At the same time, it only takes one bad run of form to lead you down the wrong path, and the Bees have shown some real weaknesses lately.
After a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, Brentford lost to Arsenal and Burnley. From there, they have been able to pull off three pretty impressive draws in a row - 1-1 vs Manchester United, 0-0 vs Brighton and 3-3 vs Aston Villa.
Sheffield United Form GuideSheffield United fans know that they are the favourites for the drop and in a lot of ways, it feels like they don’t have much to lose because of that. Chris Wilder will do everything in his power to keep them in the top flight but they need a big shift in momentum in the next couple of months. Whether or not they can make that change, though, remains to be seen, and it seems unlikely.
Following defeats to Wolves and Arsenal, the Blades picked up two big draws against Bournemouth and Fulham - 2-2 and 3-3. They went on to lose 3-1 on the road to Liverpool before earning a 2-2 draw at home to Chelsea.
Match PredictionUnited have been putting up more of a fight in recent weeks - but by no means do we think they’re going to get a result here. The reason for that, mainly, is because the Bees are the ones who need to push themselves over the finish line. In our view, the likeliest outcome is a Brentford win.
