For the final time before a few weeks away, the Chinese Super League returns for a slate of fascinating fixtures as we continue to race through to the end of the campaign. There’s a lot on the line in the next few games at both ends of the table and today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fascinating clash between Shenzhen Ruby and Changchun Yatai.
Shenzhen Form GuideThe situation for Shenzhen is pretty dire at this point. They are seven points adrift of safety and, to be perfectly honest, they aren’t showing any signs of a revival - as if they’ve accepted their fate. The season wasn’t always trending in such a terrible direction for them but as they continue to pile up loss after loss, it just seems as if they’ve lost all faith in their ability to escape.
In the month of September, Shenzhen’s misery has been compounded in the kind of way that just screams “stop, he’s already dead”. They were humbled 5-1 by Meizhou and then, just eight days later, they were beaten and battered 5-0 by Hangzhou at home.
Changchun Form GuideChangchun’s season can be described in one word: mid. They just haven’t quite been able to keep up with some of the sides around them and because of that, they are in limbo. There’s a chance they’ll make a late push to finish in the top half of the table, which would be a solid outcome, but it’s just as likely that they won’t be able to get up and running all over again.
Changchun shouldn’t be too ashamed of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Shanghai, but at home to Beijing, they would’ve hoped to put their best foot forward. Instead, they couldn’t quite get going, slipping to a 1-1 draw that probably should’ve been more.
Match PredictionShenzhen are as nervous as any team we’ve seen in quite some time, whereas Changchun aren’t going to push the pace as much as some may want them to. As such, it feels only right to predict that the most likely outcome here is under 2.5 goals scored.
