If you want to see what a team looks like when they have nothing to play for, then both of these two have been great examples of that in recent weeks. Watford and Sunderland have been counting down the days until the end of the season, and have just two games left. They take each other on here at Vicarage Road this Saturday in the Championship.
Watford Form GuideI think Tom Cleverley has done a decent job with Watford, he's made them difficult to beat and while more wins would have been nice, you can argue that he has a squad that is fairly limited. They have drawn four out of their last five games, so do continue to put points on the board, even if it's not via wins.
It was a draw last time for Watford, they drew 0-0 at home to Hull. Ipswich, Preston, West Brom and Leeds are some of the other sides they've drawn against recently, all of which are strong sides, so those results have been good. The one loss they suffered was a 3-2 away defeat at Southampton, a team in the playoff spots.
Sunderland Form GuideTo not appoint a full time manager with so long left in the season was always going to send a sign to everyone connected with Sunderland that they weren't going to do anything other than cruise to the end of the season, and that's exactly what we've seen. They've faded into mid table, when the expectations at the start of the season were firmly to get into the playoffs.
They come here on the back of a home defeat as they lost 1-0 against Millwall last weekend, a side who made themselves safe by winning that. They did grab a 1-0 win at West Brom before that, a big surprise to fans, and drew 0-0 away at Leeds before that, though can count themselves incredibly lucky in that game too.
Match PredictionNeither side have too much to play for here, but Watford are trying to build and prepare for next season. With that in mind, I will back Watford to win this game. They haven't won too many recently, but this does present them with a nice opportunity to get three points on the board.
