A clash that has huge implications at both the top and bottom of the Championship table takes place on Tuesday night at Hillsbrorough. Sheffield Wednesday, currently in 23rd, one point from safety, take on Norwich City, currently in 6th and inside the playoffs but with a group of teams behind them trying to catch up.
Sheffield Wednesday Form GuideI often think that it is more character rather than ability that will keep a team in the division, and we saw a ton of character from Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend. Going away to QPR, a relegation rival, on the back of a bad result, Wednesday went to London and won, a massive three points given that a couple of their rivals also won over the weekend.
It was timely for another reason too, Wednesday were four games without a win before that, and in need of some points. They lost 2--0 at Middlesbrough and drew 1-1 at home to Swansea over the Easter weekend, which wasn't as good as expected. Five cup finals remain for Danny Rohl's side, still one point away from safety.
Norwich Form GuideNorwich are being chased by a number of teams, but they continue to go well themselves, and if they keep this up, they will get into the playoffs. Four wins from five games, one loss, they are going along nicely and have a four point cushion over those behind.
They come here on the back of a massive derby win at the weekend, beating local rivals Ipswich 1-0. They lost to Leicester before that, which is understandable, but had wins over Plymouth, Stoke and Rotherham before that, again a good run, and one that's kept them in the playoffs and in pole position.
Match PredictionA huge game at both ends of the table, and it's the team fighting near the top that I am going to side with. Norwich have been in excellent form recently and while Sheffield Wednesday are pushing hard for survival, I think Norwich have the edge here, and can take home three points.
