The UEFA Champions League is back in our lives this week with all 32 clubs involved having two games remaining in their push for the knockouts. There’s a whole lot left to be determined across the next two matchdays and today, we’re going to take a look at what we expect to be a really entertaining clash as Braga lock horns with Union Berlin.
Braga Form GuideWhile Braga may serve as a team that are easy to forget within the wider context of Portuguese football, fans should be careful about writing them off. They are the kind of side who are more than capable of causing a shock against a bigger club and with a third place finish in Primeira Liga last season, it’s clear to see that they have the squad necessary to compete at the highest level.
A late Napoli goal saw Braga fall to an early 2-1 defeat, but they did bounce back with an injury time winner of their own in a 3-2 win over Union Berlin. From there, they went down 2-1 to Real Madrid, before a more convincing 3-0 loss to the Spanish giants a few weeks later.
Union Berlin Form GuideThe development and growth of Union Berlin as a football club is something that needs to be studied. They have made outstanding leaps forward over the course of the last few years and now, we’re at a point whereby they are regularly competing on all fronts. If the knockouts is their goal this season, we wouldn’t be at all surprised, with their confidence and resilience speaking volumes.
A dramatic late Bellingham goal saw Union Berlin experience a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Real Madrid. They went on to lose twice more in dramatic circumstances to Braga and Napoli, before getting their first point of the campaign in a 1-1 draw on the road to Napoli.
Match PredictionBraga and Union Berlin will both feel as if they need to really go for it, and we expect that to lead us down the path of a fairly chaotic encounter. There are going to be chances flying in from every single direction and the eventual outcome of that, in our view, is going to be over 2.5 goals scored.
