On Sunday night, Real Sociedad will look to consolidate their European berth as they welcome hapless Almeria to the Reale Arena.
La Real on a winning roll in La LigaThe side from San Sebastian recorded their third straight victory in La Liga last time out, winning 1-0 at midtable Alaves. The home team also kept a second straight clean sheet in La Liga in the encounter.
At the other end of the pitch, Imanol Aranguiz’s team has scored at least two goals in three of their last four outings in the Spanish top flight.
Real Sociedad currently sits in sixth place in the Spanish top-flight table, five points clear of seventh place Valencia.
La Real have a mixed recent home record in La Liga. However, they ended a five-game winless run on home soil in the Spanish top-flight by recording a 2-0 victory over Cadiz.
Almeria all but relegatedThe Andalusian team are rock bottom in La Liga, having collected just 13 points from their 30 matches in the Spanish top flight this season. They are also 15 points adrift of safety.
They couldn’t build on a 1-0 away win at Las Palmas in gameweek 29, as they went down to a 3-0 home defeat against Osasuna last time out in the Spanish top-flight.
The loss against the team from Pamplona means that Almeria has won just one of their previous 33 games in La Liga dating back to last season.
Unsurprisingly, Almeria’s away record in the Spanish top flight is poor, as they have won just once in their 19 Liga games on their travels.
However, that win was, of course, the aforementioned victory at Las Palmas that ended their 18-game winless run away from home.
Their recent away games have been tight, low-scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in their previous three matches on their travels.
What am I backing?Real Sociedad heads into this clash in strong form, and I am backing the home side to record a relatively comfortable victory.
