Preston are in the playoff mix, but so are a few others, and with nine games to play, every point is going to be crucial. As we return from the international break, they host Rotherham at Deepdale, the team rock bottom of the Championship, and destined to be relegated back to League One very shortly.
Preston Form GuideI've written off Preston for the playoffs already once, and I'll not be doing it again. They're five points off 6th, currently held by Norwich, but do have a game in hand on them, as others do, so it could be much tighter if they can win that. In 9th, it won't be easy, but on their day, Preston are as good as any of the other playoff contenders.
They've lost just one of their last five games, with two wins and two draws alongside that. In their last game, Preston won 1-0 away at relegation threatened Plymouth. Their other recent win was away at Coventry, while they've drawn with Blackburn and Hull recently too.
Rotherham Form GuideRotherham are heading back to League One, and you've been able to tell that for a while. Just three wins from 38 games, it has been nothing short of a disaster for them this season, showing themselves to be a long way below the standard needed for the second tier.
They come here on the back of a 0-0 draw at home to Huddersfield, and that's the first point they've picked up in a while, with many losses before that. They are 19 points from safety, so in a couple of games, unless something big happens, will be officially heading down.
Match PredictionRotherham are sinking without trace in the Championship, and it's only a matter of time until their relegation is confirmed. Preston are on the up, continue to go well and are pushing for the playoffs. So with that in mind, it seems obvious but the pick here is Preston, they're at home, and fancied to take all three points.
