UEFA Euro 2024 will take place next summer and the road to qualifying for that tournament continues this week with the latest international break. As clubs across the continent hit the pause button on their domestic leagues, plenty of countries will be hoping to edge closer to the finals. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun encounter between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Portugal.
Bosnia Form GuideOutside of a lone appearance at the World Cup in 2014, Bosnia & Herzegovina haven’t had much luck as an independent nation. They’ve fallen at the final hurdle in the playoffs in the last three Euros qualification campaigns, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see them go down the same path. Hopefully, for their own sake, they can begin to turn the tide in what is a really fun group.
Three straight defeats to Slovakia, Portugal and Luxembourg set Bosnia back in a big way, before they just about managed to recover with a narrow win over Liechtenstein. They proceeded to drop another defeat to Iceland before another win over Liechtenstein.
Portugal Form GuidePortugal managed to shock a lot of people by becoming European champions back in 2016. Unfortunately, they haven’t quite been able to build on that. This is arguably the best golden generation they’ve had since Cristiano Ronaldo first rose to prominence two decades ago, and now is the chance to seize their opportunity, especially given their goalscoring prowess.
Over the course of their last six games, Portugal hae been pretty much perfect. They have registered six wins over Luxembourg, Bosnia, Iceland, Slovakia, Luxembourg again, and Slovakia again, which included a 9-0 triumph.
Match PredictionBosnia will do their best to really force the tempo in the early stages, but it just doesn’t feel like they have the confidence to really see through a positive result. In our view, this is going to end in a Portugal win, and we genuinely think it could get quite embarrassing.
