Millwall are safe for another season in the Championship, with boss Neil Harris doing the job he was tasked with when arriving at the start of 2024. Seven ahead of the relegation zone with six to play for, but that's not the case for Plymouth, who visit The New Den on Saturday. They are just two ahead, and right in the mix, needing more points to surivive.
Millwall Form GuideThere is obviously a question around the mentality of Millwall coming here, with nothing to play for. But three wins in a row, they've secured safety and I think they will want to build on that. Harris will be in charge next season, and will want to show this is a team capable of much better, 13th isn't out of the reckoning with two games to go, and would further emphasise the job that Harris has done.
They come here on the back of a 1-0 away win at Sunderland last weekend, to cement their position for next season in the second tier. Before that, they've beaten Cardiff 3-1 at home and Leicester 1-0 at home. I think they're good overall, but do believe we have seen them play even better at home, which they get to do here.
Plymouth Form GuideI've been saying for weeks that Plymouth are right in the mix, and despite being 20th, I still think that is the case. They have 48 points, behind them, Sheffield Wednesday who are outside of the drop zone with 47, followed by Birmingham with 46 and Huddersfield with 44, both inside the relegation zone.
They come here on the back of a defeat last weekend, losing 3-0 away from home against Stoke, a big blow at the wrong time. Before that, it was a lot better, a home win over Leicester, away win over Rotherham and in the middle, a home point in a draw with QPR. They've shown fight, but the job is not done, and they have to put that big defeat last weekend behind them.
Match PredictionDespite having nothing to play for, I am going to side with Millwall to win this one. They're in form, pushing on for something good and can play without pressure. For Plymouth, the pressure is on, they're looking over their shoulder, and I think they lose here, a Millwall win for me.
