The Premier League returns this weekend with a full slate of fixtures as we prepare to enter the month of March. There’s a lot of excitement and tension in the air at both ends of the table and with so much on the line, there are plenty of reasons to feel hyped about what’s ahead. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Newcastle Form GuideWhile things are certainly moving in a positive direction for Newcastle United Football Club, things haven’t been smooth sailing for Eddie Howe’s men this season. They’re currently lingering around mid-table and while there’s still a decent chance they could win silverware between now and the end of May, they need to make some big tactical adjustments.
In their last league outing, Newcastle took a trip to the Emirates where they played Arsenal. It was the kind of game they’ll soon want to forget (and that’s an understatement), with the Magpies slipping to a pretty comprehensive 4-1 defeat.
Wolves Form GuideWolverhampton Wanderers are looking really good right now and Gary O’Neil deserves a lot of plaudits for what he’s been able to do at the club. When he came in, they were seen as one of the favourites to go down - but at this point, their focus is on the top half as opposed to the bottom three. With a decent cup run to go alongside that, the kings of the Black Country are sitting pretty.
Wolves didn’t exactly set the world alight against Sheffield United last weekend but at the same time, they did what they had to do. They played out a pretty nervy and tense game but in the end, they had their hand raised with a tight 1-0 win.
Match PredictionNewcastle United are in desperate need of salvation right now and going to extra time against Blackburn in the cup wouldn’t have done them any favours. The visitors, meanwhile, seem to be on to something special right now, which is why we’re going to back a narrow Wolves win.
