Millwall travel up north to take on Sunderland this Saturday, with both teams having three games left to play this season. A win for Millwall would put them just three points behind Sunderland with two to play, something I would never have predicted at the start of the season.
Sunderland Form GuideMid table is not where Sunderland wanted, or expected, to be this season. It's been poor on the whole, and I think their fans would agree that overt he past couple of months, there has been a sense of wanting the season to end, as no one seems too interested, and there's nothing to play for in the games.
They do come here on the back of a win, a completely surprising turn of events as they won 1-0 away from home against West Brom. Two draws came before that, a point away from home against Leeds and another point, this time at home against Bristol City.
Millwall Form GuideThe feeling I have is that Millwall are safe this season, but they'll be looking for another three points just to be totally sure. If results below go their was, and they get a point here, they could be confirmed as safe this weekend, which was the task set to boss Neil Harris when he returned to the club just a couple of months ago.
They had a great start under Harris, but then saw their form dip. However, two wins in their last two games has seen them move clear again. Last weekend, they won 3-1 at home to Cardiff, before that, they won 1-0 at home to title chasing Leicester, both excellent results that have kept them away from any real danger below them.
Match PredictionWhile Sunderland may have won last week, I still don't think they're playing with any intent. I am going to take Millwall on the double chance market here, which covers them to win the game or it to end in a draw, both adding to their safety cushion.
