Millwall are still in the relegation fight as we enter the final four games of the season, but safety is getting closer for them. They are four points clear of the bottom three, and a win here would pretty much secure their status in the Championship for another season. They welcome Cardiff to The New Den on Saturday afternoon.
Millwall Form GuideWhen Neil Harris returned to Millwall, they went on a really good run, so much so that I thought they'd kicked clear of the relegation battle. But a really tough few games saw them dragged back into it. They won in midweek, a big win, and they will be looking to follow that up. I do think they are safe, if they can land a win here as they would be at least four clear with only nine to play for.
Their midweek win was a timely one and was a 1-0 success over the current league leaders Leicester. Not only was that a big three points, but a big win over a side trying to get into the Premier League. It was four without a win before that, so the three points could not have come at a better time for them.
Cardiff Form GuideCardiff are hanging onto a place in the top half of the table, and if they manage to finish inside the top half, then I think it will be seen as a big success for the team. Currently 11th with four games to go, they are only four points off 7th placed Coventry though the teams above do have a game in hand over Cardiff, so that won't be an easy gap to close.
Cardiff have won two out of their last three games, including in midweek when they won 1-0 away from home against Birmingham City. Their other win in this period was a 2-1 win, again away from home but this time against Coventry. In the middle of those two games, they lost 3-1 at home to Hull, so based on those games, Cardiff do look to be better when away from home right now.
Match PredictionWhile I respect Cardiff, who continue to outplay my expectations for them, I am going to side with Millwall here. They need one win and I think they're safe, with the home fans behind them, I think they get that here.
