The festive period continues as we approach the final few days of 2023. The Premier League has never been more exciting as all 20 clubs prepare for a big push into the new year. There are plenty of fixtures to work through this week and today, we’re going to take a look at what should be a pretty interesting clash between Manchester City and Sheffield United.
Manchester City Form GuideWhile Manchester City may be recognised as one of the best teams in world football, that doesn’t mean they are immune to criticism or complacency. This season has proven that there are a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out by Pep Guardiola and with so much expectation on their shoulders as a club, it’ll be interesting to see how they cope with the mounting pressure.
Across their last six games, the only hiccup for Manchester City has been a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. Outside of that they’ve been able to pick up big wins over Luton, Red Star Belgrade, Urawa Reds, Fluminense and, most recently, Everton.
Sheffield United Form GuideChris Wilder is officially back as Sheffield United manager and although many fans were happy to see him walk back through the door, there is a whole lot of work that needs to be done to this team. They are one of the firm favourites to get relegated back down to the Championship and with the new year on the horizon, they have to grind hard for every point they can get.
United lost to Burnley and Liverpool before a big 1-0 win over Brentford. Since then, they’ve lost to Chelsea and Luton, but they did manage to pick up a point on the road against Aston Villa - even if they did concede an equaliser in injury time.
Match PredictionSheffield United feel like a sinking ship of a club and while that may seem harsh to say, it’s the truth. They need a minor miracle to help them survive and in a game like this, we don’t think parking the bus will be enough, which is why we’re predicting a Manchester City win.
