We’re into the endgame of the Ligue One campaign and there’s still a lot left to be determined at both ends of the table. With clubs competing for Europe, clubs attempting to avoid relegation and others just trying to make a strong push for the finish line, it’ll be interesting to see how things shake out. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Rennes and Toulouse.
Rennes Form GuideA strong end to the campaign ensured that Rennes finished in the top four last season, and that’s exactly what they deserved. They continue to build as a club to the point where it’s hard not to take them seriously at this level. They’re fun to watch, they have an incredible fanbase, and they have a squad that is capable of beating just about anyone in the league.
Rennes lost to Lorient, drew 2-2 with Lille and beat Marseille in a two-week period that defined the inconsistency they’ve showcased this season. From there, they fell to three disappointing defeats, losing to Strasbourg, PSG and Monaco.
Toulouse Form GuideToulouse are just kind of lingering around mid-table right now in what has been, for the most part, a season to forget for the club. They certainly have a lot of talent within their ranks and it feels like there’s something to build on in the summer, but the best thing they can hope to do at this point is push even further away from the relegation battle and look ahead to the future.
After defeating Lille and Nice in big performances, Toulouse were beaten by Le Havre and Lyon. They did manage to bounce back with a nice 3-0 win on the road against Clermont, but at home to Strasbourg, they could only manage a 0-0 draw.
Match PredictionIt certainly feels like both of these sides are just marking time before the end of the season and, in truth, it also feels as if they’re quite evenly matched in terms of quality on the pitch. We expect this to be a pretty intriguing technical battle but ultimately, the only outcome we can see happening is a draw.
