One time big leaders at the top, Leicester City head into the weekend in 3rd, outside of the top two and heading for the playoffs. But they have a game in hand, and come here on the back of a big win, they will be looking to continue their strong form when Birmingham visit on Saturday.
Leicester Form GuideIt has to be said that despite being in 3rd place, Leicester are only one point off Leeds and two off Ipswich. With their game in hand, a win would take them top, so it's not the disaster that some are making out for them. But they do need to improve, luckily for them, they are coming here on the back of a really big win on Monday.
That success was a 3-1 win over Norwich, and exactly what they needed, at a crucial time. Before that, they lost 1-0 at Bristol City and drew 2-2 away at Hull. What we are seeing from Leicester now is nowhere near what they showed at the start of the season, but they remain in contention, and have to keep fighting.
Birmingham Form GuideGary Rowett is back at Birmingham after it was announced that Tony Mowbray would remain away until the summer on medical grounds. Rowett has a job on his hands, as the Blues are just two points above the relegation zone, and are only there because they won on Monday, a massive three points when others around them failed to win.
That success was a narrow 1-0 victory over Preston, much needed, and one where Birmingham really worked hard and fought for the three points. Before that though, they lost four in a row and failed to score in three off those four games, so there is still plenty for them to worry about.
Match PredictionA big game at both ends of the table, and one where I am backing Leicester, the team battling at the top. I'm backing them on the -1.5 Asian handicap line, to win by two goals or more, I think the win on Monday could be the catalyst they need to kick on again.
