Sevilla and Juventus will clash this week in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final tie.
Sevilla Form GuideSevilla’s campaign started off incredibly poorly but now, in the back half, they’ve been able to finally put it all together. They’re still lingering around midtable in an attempt to make a late push for the top seven (at the very least), but the Europa League will be their primary focus now. They’ve won it countless times before, and they have the momentum and self belief necessary to do it again.
The game plan seemed to be working perfectly in the first leg with a ‘stick and move’ approach really catching Juve off guard. Alas, while they did lead for most of the night, a dramatic equaliser in the depths of injury time means we head into this match-up at 1-1 - and it could’ve been avoided for Sevilla.
Juventus Form GuideIt’s been a turbulent season for Juventus but now that the dust has settled and their point deduction has been overturned, they can start to look ahead to a brighter future. They’ve lost out on the Serie A title to Napoli and they didn’t win the Coppa Italia, but you could make the argument that they’re the favourites to go all the way and capture the Europa League crown.
The Old Lady had the majority of the possession during their first leg encounter but considering they were at home, they didn’t do well to overcome the tension and pressure of the situation. That was, of course, until they popped up with an equaliser in the 97th minute that changed the game.
Latest Team NewsJordan and Marcao are both out injured with Lamela suspended, whereas Nianzou and Suso are doubtful to appear.
Soule is away at the U20 World Cup with the following players out injured: Pogba, Bonucci, De Sciglio and Jorge.
Match PredictionThis clash is going to be as tight as the first time they met last week but there’s one key difference - this is going to go down in Spain. The hosts’ atmosphere in the quarters was one of the things that spurred them on to victory and with that in mind, we’re going to back a Sevilla win.
