Ipswich have five games to go to secure back to back promotions and a place in the Premier League next season. Starting the week, they're in second, but could be third by the time they play on Wednesday, as both Leicester and Leeds play a day earlier. Watford are the visitors to Portman Road, a side in the middle of the table with little to play for in their final few games.
Ipswich Form GuideA loss at the weekend and Ipswich were taken off the top of the table, showing just how tight things are at the top. One place ahead of them, Leicester are clear by one point, but crucially have a game in hand. Below them, Leeds are one point below, after the same games played. The next few weeks are sure to be nerve wracking and exciting at the same time.
But as I said, Ipswich do come here on the back of a loss, a 1-0 away defeat against Norwich, their local rivals, so one that will hurt even more than normal. Before that, three wins in a row, a 3-2 home success over Southampton, 1-0 win at Blackburn and 6-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Watford Form GuideWatford are in the middle of the table with nothing to play for but they've been playing fairly well recently and are showing no signs of slowing down. They come here on the back of four games unbeaten, the first of those was a win while in their last three games, they've drawn them all.
At the weekend, they drew 0-0 at home to Preston, before that, a 2-2 away draw at West Brom and a 2-2 home draw with Leeds. The win they had was a 1-0 away success against Birmingham. Overall, it's been a good run, the three draws have all been against teams in the playoff battle, or better.
Match PredictionWhile Watford are going along nicely, and picking up points against some good sides, I do think Ipswich are going to have too much for them here. They need to bounce back from their loss to Norwich, but at home, I think they will, and Ipswich will continue their promotion push by taking three points.
