Major League Soccer returns this weekend with a full slate of fixtures as we dive into yet another set of high profile clashes. We’re still in the early stages of the campaign but we’re starting to get a feel for how a few teams are approaching the season, even though there’s still a long way to go. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun game between Sporting Kansas City and Inter Miami.
Kansas City Form GuideSporting Kansas City tend to fit into the ‘there or thereabouts’ stereotype as a football club. They’re good enough to mix it up in the playoffs, but there are always a handful of teams ready to push past them once we get to the business end. With that being said, they went on a really impressive run in the post-season last year, and that should give them plenty of confidence.
After draws against Philadelphia and Los Angeles, Kansas City picked up a nice 2-1 win over San Jose. They did lose 3-2 to LA Galaxy, but they got back on track with a 3-1 win over Toronto before an electric 3-3 draw with Portland.
Miami Form GuideInter Miami, in totality, didn’t have a great campaign last year - but now, everything has changed. The main difference has been the introduction of Lionel Messi, which has given the franchise new life in more ways than one. Now, we’re left to wait and see whether or not the presence of the king can help guide them to an elusive MLS Cup success.
Unfortunately for Miami fans, consistency has been something they’ve struggled with as of late. They beat Orlando, then lost to Montreal. They beat DC, then lost to NY Red Bulls. Most recently, they’ve only managed draws against New York and Colorado.
Match PredictionKansas City and Miami are both aiming to have big campaigns in their own right, but in terms of overall quality, it just feels like Miami have the edge. With that being said, they’re both fairly free-flowing, which leads us to believe we’re going to be in for a high-flying draw.
