Nice and Basel put on a great game for us last Thursday, a game that eventually ended 2-2 in Switzerland. That sets this tie up perfectly, two teams who want to win the game and attack, with everything still to play for, but this time, it is Nice who will have home advantage.
Nice Form GuideAfter the game last weekend, Nice would have been the one happier with the result, as they know they have home advantage for the second leg here, so do come in as favourites, not only to win the game individually, but also to reach the semi finals. Nice were back in action in France at the weekend, but suffered defeat, losing 1-0 away at Brest. It's been a long run without a win for Nice now in Ligue 1, which doesn't help them come here in the best of form, but of course, this is a different competition.
Basel Form GuideBasel played well in the first leg, but were not able to get the win in the game that should have given them most chance to do so, as they were at home. But the pressure is off here, as they head to France knowing their opponents will be expected to deliver. In Switzerland, just like their opponents here, Basel are also having a tough domestic season, in mid table and continued that with a draw at the weekend. They too will be hoping the change of pace into this competition will see an improvement to their play.
Match PredictionThis should be a close game after a good draw last week, and neither team really arrives in good form domestically. However, the home side Nice will have their fans behind them, and with that slim advantage, Nice are my pick to win this game. It is likely to be very tight, but I give them a small edge.
