It’s time for another international break as the countdown to this summer’s UEFA Euro 2024 tournament truly begins. Some nations are gearing up for a big run, whereas others didn’t make the cut and simply want to rebuild ahead of World Cup qualifying. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a pretty entertaining encounter between Tunisia and Croatia.
Tunisia Form GuideWhile they may have qualified for five of the last seven World Cups, Tunisia didn’t look great at AFCON - and some are wondering whether or not they’re beginning to lose their sparkle. They need to acquire a few solid attacking stars because while they may have a really handy defensive record, that isn’t going to take them far if they carry on at this pace.
At the Africa Cup of Nations, Tunisia really failed to deliver in a pretty dramatic way. They crashed out at the group stage after a 1-0 loss to Namibia, a 1-1 draw with Mali and a 0-0 draw against South Africa, ending a fairly humiliating series.
Croatia Form GuideThey may have only made it to the round of 16 at Euro 2021, but on the biggest stage of them all, Croatia have proven themselves to be the ultimate dark horse. They have finished in 2nd place and 3rd place at the last two World Cups and although it must be said that they have an ageing squad, we still think they’ve got enough gas left in the tank for one more big run.
After wins over Latvia and Armenia, Croatia fell to disappointing losses against Turkey and Wales. They did, however, manage to bounce back in November, with victories over familiar rivals - Armenia and Latvia once again.
Match PredictionTunisia are certainly an entertaining side to watch when they play to their full potential and they may well get a strong home backing in this one, but even with that being the case, we don’t think they’ll be able to deal with the power of their opponents. Therefore, we’re going to back a Croatia win.
