After losing out on promotion to the Premier League on penalties last season, it's taken Coventry City a lot of time to recover. But now, we're seeing the real Coventry, and their playoff push continues, they're in good form and they host managerless Swansea City on Friday night.
Coventry City Form GuideCoventry are two from two in their games over the festive period, and overall, they are now unbeaten in five games, three wins and two draws in that period. Further back, they've lost just one of their last nine games, and that was against second placed Ipswich. I think it's fair to say that Coventry are back.
Coventry have been excellent recently, they won 2-0 against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, and before that, they won 3-0 away at Sunderland on Saturday. Three wins, two draws, with the draws against Leeds and Southampton, who are 3rd and 4th in the standings, show just how good the recent run has been.
Swansea Form GuideIt's been a real rollercoaster for Swansea so far. Losing Russell Martin in the summer was a big blow, replacing him with Michael Duff was seen as a good move, but he's been sacked recently, and now Swansea are without a manager, and down in 17th position, though for now, well clear of the relegation zone, so no need to be worried.
But Swansea do come here on the back of a really big loss and it came at the hands of their former boss, Russell Martin. Swansea lost 5-0 away at Southampton, but before that, they won 2-1 at home to Preston, it's inconsistent, but without a manager, that's always likely to be the case for any team.
Match PredictionI am going to side with a Coventry win here. They're heading back, in the playoff hunt, and playing some great football at the moment. Swansea arrive on the back of a big loss on Tuesday, and I don't think they bounce back from that here.
