The Championship playoff race continues in midweek when we have a full list of fixtures spread across Tuesday and Wednesday night. Southampton are already holding onto a playoff spot, comfortably inside, and they welcome Coventry to St Mary's on Tuesday, a team currently on the outside looking in, with six games to play.
Southampton Form GuideSouthampton may still feel a little disappointment that they've not been able to get in the automatic promotion battle, but they need to overcome that, and change focus. The playoffs are where they are, and their big test for the rest of the season is winning those, and getting back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
But they come here on a run of three games without a win, two draws with one defeat in the middle. Most recently, they drew 0-0 away from home against Blackburn on Saturday, while their other draw was 1-1 at home to Middlesbrough. In the middle, a defeat 3-2 away from home against promotion chasing Ipswich.
Coventry Form GuideCoventry begin the week in 7th, one place outside of the playoffs. They have 63 points, which means they are four off Norwich, but do hold a game in hand. With four wins from their last five, Coventry come here in good form, but Norwich have the same record, and are playing equally as well right now, so this is going to be a battle.
The Sky Blues come here on the back of an excellent 2-1 home win over promotion chasing Leeds on Saturday, a massive win to keep the pressure on. Other recent wins have come against Huddersfield, Watford and Rotherham, while the defeat they suffered was a 2-1 home loss to Cardiff.
Match PredictionA big game at the top, and I think based on recent form, the value here lies with anything surrounding Coventry. I am going to back them on the double chance market here, which covers Coventry to win or draw the game, and appears to hold great value given their recent form and how important this game is for them.
