We’re in the endgame now. The Premier League season has entered the final stretch with just eight or fewer games remaining for the majority of clubs. There’s a lot on the line at both ends of the table, as we know, and we’re bound to see plenty of twists and turns in the weeks to come. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Sheffield United and Chelsea.
Sheffield United Form GuideSheffield United fans know that they are the favourites for the drop and in a lot of ways, it feels like they don’t have much to lose because of that. Chris Wilder will do everything in his power to keep them in the top flight but they need a big shift in momentum in the next couple of months. Whether or not they can make that change, though, remains to be seen, and it seems unlikely.
Following three straight losses to Brighton, Wolves and Arsenal, Sheffield United were held to a point by Bournemouth (2-2) and Fulham (3-3). Then, against Liverpool at Anfield, they actually looked really solid at times, but still fell to a 3-1 defeat.
Chelsea Form GuideThis season hasn’t been particularly fruitful for Mauricio Pochettino and while it may not seem like it, a lot rests on how they bounce back between now and May. They need to make a real fight of it in their pursuit of European football because if they don’t, they could find themselves going through yet another major change by the time the summer window rolls around.
Chelsea have managed to string together a nice unbeaten run as of late. In addition to FA Cup wins over Leeds and Leicester, They’ve also been able to defeat Newcastle and Manchester United - to run alongside dramatic 2-2 draws with Brentford and Burnley.
Match PredictionSheffield United know how to put up a good fight and we do think a game like this is promising for them in their (slim) pursuit of survival. In equal measure, the Blues are riding a wave of momentum right now after what happened during the week - which is why we’re backing a Chelsea win.
