We’re back with the final international break of 2023 as we continue down the road to UEFA Euro 2024. It’s safe to say that things are really starting to heat up in pretty much every group as nations qualify and make their push to reach the playoffs. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing battle between Serbia and Bulgaria.
Serbia Form GuideBizarrely, despite qualifying for three of the last four World Cup tournaments, Serbia haven’t been able to qualify for the Euros since breaking away from Montenegro. They certainly have a good structure and many would argue that they have an impressive squad, but sometimes, that isn’t always enough - although, you can bet they’ll be putting their best foot forward in this one.
Serbia had a nice warm up just a matter of days ago as they went toe to toe with Belgium, but in the end, it wasn’t quite enough as they fell to a 1-0 loss ahead of the important test this weekend.
Bulgaria Form GuideBulgaria have a rich history and that much cannot be denied, but they’ve struggled to really get anything going in recent years. The good news is they seem to have a passionate, determined group of players who are willing to really fight for their country - but it remains to be seen whether or not that’ll be enough to carry them through to another big tournament.
Bulgaria have proven their ability to go blow for blow with bigger sides in the past, and that’s exactly what they did against Hungary. They traded shots and in the end, came away with a valiant 2-2 draw.
Match PredictionSerbia are going to be the clear favourites but we also feel as if they’ll want to be a little bit cautious, if only to avoid falling into the same trap that Hungary did earlier this week. It’ll be a tight affair, but ultimately, our official prediction is going to be under 2.5 goals scored.
