The Turkish Super Lig returns once again this weekend as we continue to march through the winter months. There’s a clear picture beginning to form at both ends of the table as all 20 clubs attempt to build some momentum before we enter the final third of the season. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between Besiktas and Adana Demirspor.
Besiktas Form GuideFor as long as we can remember, Besiktas have been one of the biggest names in town in Turkish football. They’ve had many, many European adventures against some of the biggest clubs on the continent, and they’ve been able to do that courtesy of domestic success. Now, the challenge for them is going to be getting back to a position of real prominence in their homeland.
Besiktas went on the road to face Pendikspor and had 15 shots to their nine, and held 65% of the possession. They did, however, go 1-0 down in the 4th minute, meaning they had to chase the game. That ultimately didn’t go too well for them as they conceded three in the last 20 minutes, falling to a shocking 4-0 defeat.
Adana Demirspor Form GuideAdana Demirspor may have been around for decades but it finally feels like they’re starting to hit their stride at the elite level. Last season, they were able to finish in 4th place in the league, and we get the feeling that they fancy themselves to do something similar once again. They have blockbuster names on their squad such as Nani and Mario Balotelli, and you can see that they’re full of confidence.
Adana Demirspor and Ankaragucu are two pretty evenly matched teams, and it’s not exactly revolutionary to suggest that. In this clash, they were able to take the lead in the 52nd minute through Emre Akbaba - but after a Pedrinho equaliser, the game fizzled out to a 1-1 draw.
Match PredictionBesiktas probably the favourites here but we expect Adana Demirspor to put up a real fight, especially in the middle of the park. This has all the potential in the world to be an entertaining, technical affair, but our official prediction is going to be under 2.5 goals scored.
