The often unpredictable Turkish Super Lig is back once again this week as we enter the month of February. There’s still a lot left to be determined at both ends of the table, and that much is an understatement with the league being as chaotic as ever. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be another exciting clash as Ankaragucu go head to head with Sivasspor.
Ankaragucu Form GuideAnkaragucu, originating from the namesake city, are a multi-sport club that operate in many different fields away from football. On the pitch, though, they’re currently seen as a midtable Super Lig side, which isn’t a bad place to be in. You obviously can’t afford to relax too much at this level but in equal measure, you have to praise their consistency in recent times.
An early penalty handed Ankaragucu a shock lead on the road against Fenerbahce but, as you can probably guess, it didn’t last too long. Cengiz Under scored twice in 12 minutes to give the hosts the lead and from there, they cruised their way to a comfortable 2-1 win.
Sivasspor Form GuideBetween their Turkish Cup triumph in 2022 and their periodical push for the championship, Sivasspor are starting to become a club that you can’t afford to take your eyes off of for too long. The Braves are one of the younger teams in the top flight but they have a great deal of heart, and while this campaign hasn’t been perfect, they always have a trick or two up their sleeve.
With just 28% possession and four shots on target, Sivasspor were clearly struggling against Besiktas last weekend - but in the end, it didn’t matter one bit. They scored in the sixth minute courtesy of Rey Manaj, and they proceeded to hold on all game long for a big 1-0 win.
Match PredictionBased on the style of play we’ve seen from both teams this season, we think this is going to be a physical affair with the main story being whether or not the referee can control the game. With that being said, we believe it’s fair to assume this one will end in a draw.
