EURO 2024 Group F Preview
Group F Preview of UEFA EURO 2024

The UEFA European Championship comes from Germany this summer, and the eagerly anticipated competition is being hosted by Germany. England is the early betting favourite, with traders picking the Three Lions to finally get their hands on this piece of silverware, adding it to the FIFA World Cup won at Wembley back in 1966. Gareth Southgate’s team is good, but is it good enough to etch its name into history books? You can have your say on the outright winner of Euro 2024 now.

Football writer and gambling expert Frank Monkhouse takes readers through each group in Germany, highlighting the favourites and picking out any underdogs. On this page, we focus on the final pool of the tournament, Euro 2024 Group F. Keep reading as we highlight the chances of each team, reveal the fixtures, and make our predictions. We have everything you need to enjoy the show and predict a winner from Group F.

Portugal is one of the biggest-name teams at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, but will they deliver the goods and lift the trophy? They are certainly one of the early favourites, with many respected traders and trusted pundits picking Lusos as a side with a great chance of going all the way. They played at the championships nine times in the past, winning just once when ending on the top step in 2016. Will they bring back the glory years with victory in Germany? That remains to be seen.

Portugal knows that to stand any chance of making it to the later rounds and winning the Euros, it must get off to the best possible start by racing to the top of Group F. The Portuguese made it this far by winning qualifying Group J. They finished ahead of Slovakia, Luxembourg, Iceland, Bosnia, and Lichtenstein, meaning they didn’t face a torrid time. Portugal are good enough to win this trophy, but they’re not alone in that respect.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic, unlike Portugal, isn’t one of the betting favourites to win Euro 2024. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t get out of this group and keep their dream alive. If the Czechs are to progress, they are likely to do so behind Portugal as runners-up in the pool, but football fans know we can take nothing for granted at this level. Anything is possible.

The Czech Republic qualified for Euro 2024 as runners-up in their initial group, ending behind Albania. Both teams finished level on 15 points, four better than nearest rivals Poland, but Albania just edged it on goal difference with two goals more than the Czechs. A valiant effort, and we’re likely to see more of the same in Germany.

Georgia

Will Georgia impact Group F? At this stage, they have as good a chance as any of the other three nations. However, few pundits expect them to win the pool or even finish in the silver medal position. They could be here simply to give the others a credible challenge, but we don’t fancy them to earn too many points along the way. Georgia is a capable team, but they appear in a fiercely competitive pool with some top teams.

Georgia booked their spot at Euro 2024 when finishing fourth in Group A behind Spain, Scotland, and Norway. They then moved into the last chance saloon of the Nations League, where they battled through the playoffs, becoming something of a dark horse. An incredible route to Germany, but a title win is a long shot.

Turkey

Turkey impressed us in qualifying and was a real eye-catcher when winning Euro 2024 qualifying Group D ahead of Croatia and Wales. Few predicted the Turks to win such an evenly balanced group. However, they did so in style, winning five and drawing two of their eight outings. They scored 14 goals and conceded seven, suggesting they will prove an exciting and useful addition to the championship in Germany. Turkey will play without fear.

Do they have what it takes to challenge early pool favourites Portugal for the top spot? It’s possible, but most football fans believe the Turks will battle the Czech Republic for a spot in the next round. Are they good enough to join Portugal in the next phase? Their form in qualifying means they have hope, and we like their chances.

  • Georgia vs Czech Republic: A little snippet of history for football fans in Hamburg as these nations meet for the first time.

  • Georgia vs Portugal: These nations have met only once in history, with Portugal claiming a 2-0 victory back in 2008.

Euro 2024 Group F predictions and expectations

Although Group F looks evenly balanced, it’s not the most competitive pool, and we’ll likely see Portugal take control from the start. The former champions are good enough to win all three games without hitting top gear and still have plenty left for the knockout rounds. They haven’t been the most reliable team in previous Euros and World Cups, but they have the talent, experience, and skill to live up to expectations, at least in their first three games.

Which of the other three nations will join them in the knockout rounds? That will take a little more solving, but we have a good feeling about Turkey following a strong qualifying campaign.
