BlizzCon 2026 – 1,000+ New WoW Quests, Diablo V, a 23+ Year Warcraft Comeback & $100K Classic Cup

People who love video games know that BlizzCon is one of the most important events of the year. This is when Blizzard, the company behind some of the most popular titles, announces everything new. It’s safe to say that BlizzCon 2026 delivered one of the busiest announcement line-ups in years.

The Nostrabet.com team and I were delighted to see the company highlight so much new content. Diablo V was released, alongside StarCraft (albeit in a different form), a new World of Warcraft experience, new content for Heroes of the Storm, and for Hearthstone.

Some of the numbers we saw were truly impressive, including 1,000+ new quests in World of Warcraft: Forever. WarCraft III also gets a new story after 23 years, and much more. All of these changes will have a big effect on players, including the betting industry to some extent, so let’s dive deep into all of it.

Diablo V Arrived

Even though the WoW announcement was interesting, most people will agree that Diablo V stole the show. Blizzard finally confirmed the latest addition to the legendary series. Not only that, but we also learned that the sanctuary has actually fallen and Diablo has won.

The information indicates that Diablo V is in a very unusual position compared to previous games. Players will enter a completely different world where evil is already prevailing and will have new challenges ahead.

This announcement was very important because it also marked Diablo’s 30th anniversary. Outside of that, BlizzCon 2026 also showed us Diablo IV’s Season of Hell’s Legacy. The new season will become available starting September 15, 2026, and will bring back a lot of interesting options, including Diablo himself.

On the topic of Diablo, the game will also become available on Switch 2. The Amazon will also return to Diablo IV in the first half of 2027, and this is great news for people who loved that class. It was first associated with Diablo II.

It’s also worth noting that the Diablo universe is expanding beyond gaming. Blizzard also said that there will be a new animated series in collaboration wth Netflix. Sadly, we did not get that much additional information about it, so we will need to wait and see what happens.

StarCraft is Back in 2023, but With a Plot Twist

The second major surprise at BlizzCon 2026 was related to StarCraft. Blizzard finally confirmed that the game is coming back, but it will be completely new and called STARCRAFT. The title will return in Spring 203 as an open-world shooter rather than the RTS we all associate with it.

As you can imagine, this announcement was welcomed with mixed feelings. Many people believe that StarCraft is one of the greatest RTS games of all time, so changing it to a completely new game feels weird. In fact, the game remains one of the most important esports in South Korea even today and has thousands of active players who take part in numerous tournaments.

The 2030 STARCARFT game raises many questions, including whether it will feature multiplayer. There are also rumors that Blizzard will try to make it a serious esport. If that happens, we would not be surprised if the company even does some kind of collabs with betting sites because the latter can help popularize a given title even more.

Overwatch is Getting Doctrine, a New Map and Major Reworks

When talking about esports betting and Blizzard, Overwatch is the game most people associate with it. The title is actually celebrating its 10th anniversary at BlizzCon 2026, and it received several announcements.

Perhaps the most interesting addition was a new hero called Doctrine. He is a support that uses different life-draining abilities and bat-like drones. The initial look revealed he is definitely not a hero you want to mess around with.

Outside of that, Blizzard also announced big hero reworks for Roadhog and Sombra. The latter will actually become a support, something that no one expected to see.

Blizzard also used BlizzCon 2026 to bring back the Overwatch World Cup. Blizzard decided to finally return for its 10-year celebration, and it will involve 52 national teams across different stages. This is good news for everyone looking to bet on Overwatch because the competition will bring together the best in the world.

Hearthstone is Getting a New Class After Six Years

Hearthstone will also receive major changes because Blizzard revealed the game will finally get a new class. There will be a new expansion called Reign of the Black Empire (starting October 20), and it will take players back to ancient Azeroth. Players can access many new options, one of which is called Assemble, which allows them to merge two cards into a more powerful creation.

The Battlegrounds will receive new content as well, and there will be a new type of minion called Aberrations. BlizzCon 2026 also mentioned that there will be a new Hearthstone class called Monk, which will become available in March 2027. This will be the first new class the game gets in more than 6 years, so it was a big deal.

Having a new competitive class means new mechanics, cards, deck archetypes and even matchups. Players will need to discover new builds and tactics that work well, so we expect to see a lot of action in 2027.

Warcraft III gets a New Story in More than 23 Years

When it comes to legendary games, it does not get better than Warcraft III. Blizzard finally decided to bring it back from the dead after announcing Warcraft III: Reforged. This is a new story that will explore the Forsaken Kingdom campaign. What made this announcement extra special is that it became available right away; people do not actually have to wait until 2027 to play.

The new campaign arrived alongside the Warcraft III: Reforged update 3.0, which introduces a major graphic update and changes to the World Editor. Blizzard also announced a special competition, the Blizzard Classic Cup, where the best players in the world can come together. This is another excellent opportunity for sports bettors to capitalize on the situation.

It’s safe to say that fans are excited to see what’s next for Warcraft because this was one of the most interesting game franchises for years. Reviving both new story content and another place on a Blizzard esports stage is not something you get every day.

World of Warcraft: Forever Arrives with 1000+ New Quests

World of Warcraft fans were not left behind either, as the game received the largest content announcement. Blizzard decided to reveal World of Warcraft: Forever, which will be a third WoW experience alongside Classic and Modern.

Forever will bring players back to the Vanilla era of Azeroth, and Blizzard will allow them to discover new paths and previously unseen parts of the original Azeroth.

Once the new thing launches, players will have access to things like new zones, 1k+ quests, dungeons, and so on. There will even be a new race called Skyborne. The beta starts on September 17, and players will need to wait until November 4 for the full release.

WoW: Forever will let players experience previous versions of the game while also giving them access to new features. This makes it different from Classic, where they basically have to do the same questions again.

As for the Modern version of the game, the new patch, Eclipse (update 12.2) will progress Xal’atath’s attempt to claim Azeorth’s Worldsoul. There was also another look at The Last Titan, which will be the final instrument of the Worldsoul Saga.

Heroes of the Storm Gets a New Hero

HotS may not be Blizzard’s most popular game, but the company has not given up on it. Blizzard surprised fans by introducing a new hero, Xal’atath. She will become available on the PTR starting September 14 and will arrive in the main game on September 28.

Blizzard hasn’t added new heroes to HotS in years, so this announcement was very interesting. Generally speaking, Blizzard has not really given HotS fans a lot of attention lately, so it’s good to see that the game is getting some updates.

Keep in mind that HotS will also take part in the Blizzard Classic Cup, so we will have a glimpse at its competitive stage.

BilzzCon 2026 Put Esports Back in the Spotlight

Another reason BlizzCon 2026 was so important was esports. Aside from all of the new announcements, competitive gaming was a major component because we saw the following events:

• Overwatch World Cup
• Hearthstone World Championship
• World of Warcraft Arena World Championship
• Mythic Dungeon International
• Blizzard Classic Cup

We even saw the Classic Cup, which had a $100K prize pool, and each legacy match carried a $20k reward. World of Warcraft players were even more privileged because Blizzard announced the Arena World Championship and the Mythic Dungeon International would have a combined prize pool of $600K.

The 2026 Hearthstone World Championship also had a $500K prize pool. This means that Blizzard is taking esports seriously.

Blizzard’s Announcements and Esports Betting

From a betting point of view, Blizzard’s announcements should make all of its titles much more competitive. Overwatch used to be the go-to choice for esports betting, and it seems like this will continue to be the case. People will, however, have to take into account the recent changes, such as Sombra’s transition to support.

World of Warcraft is another interesting title that we expect to see more of in the next few years. The game now has an established competitive system around the Arena World Championship and the Mythic Dungeon International. With that said, Blizzard has not said anything about the WoW: Forever and a competitive circuit, so it seems like the new game will not target esports fans.

Speaking of targeting esports fans, that may happen with the new STARCRAFT game. The only issue is that we will need to wait until 2030, when it will become available. Until then, StarCraft II remains the go-to option for punters.

All in all, it seems like Blizzard has a bright future ahead of it. The company made several important announcements that revealed its project for the next couple of years. Everything looked amazing, so we can’t wait to see it in action.
