“How can I calculate team attacking strength in a football game”
This is a very interesting question, and I will be happy to explain this to you.
Actually, there is a specific formula that explains how to calculate the attacking strength of a football team:
First, you need to have the average number of goals scored by the team at home and away. This can be done by dividing the goals scored at home/away by the number of games played home/away.
Next, when you have this number, you can use it and the league average to calculate the attacking strength of a team. You can do so by dividing the average goals scored by the team by the average number of goals scored in the league overall.
Let’s get an example of this:
Suppose the Arsenal team is scoring 30 goals in 10 matches at home.
We have 30 / 10 = 3.00 goals per game on average
Let’s suppose that for the same period of 10 matches, the average number of goals scored at home matches in the league overall is 2.00.
We have 3.00 / 2.00 = 1.50
In this situation, 1.50 is the ratio for the attacking strength of Arsenal at the moment.
You can calculate the away attacking strength, too, or use the overall goals scored to see the overall attack power. If you make the same calculations for another team, you can then compare their values and see which team has the better-attacking power. Also, you can do the same calculations to get the defensive strength of a team, but instead of using the goals scored, you should use the average number of goals conceded for a particular period.
At last, if you multiply the attack strength of Team 1 by the defensive strength of Team 2 by the average number of goals scored in the league = you get the value of the expected number of goals to be scored by Team 1.
Of course, this is the mathematics behind a team’s attacking strength. However, many other factors should be observed. These include injured or suspended players. If one player scores the most goals for a team and is missing in the upcoming game, the potential attacking strength will decrease.
However, it is very interesting to calculate a team’s attacking power and compare the ratio with other teams’ strength. Good luck, and remember to play responsibly!
