This week has been packed with iGaming news, and it’s time for you to learn the most interesting ones. The team at Nostrabet and I have skimmed through everything to provide you with the news you should know more about. Some of the news is very intriguing, so let’s begin.

UKGC’s Ban on Specific Promotions and Caps on the Wagering Requirements

The UK has one of the largest iGaming markets in the world, so every change to the regulations there is interesting. The latest one is from a few days ago and concerns the Gambling Commission’s decision to introduce new rules regarding promotions and offers that casinos can offer to their customers.

Following the changes, casinos are no longer allowed to have mixed product bonuses. In other words, they can’t provide rewards that require people to bet on sports and play casino games simultaneously. The reason for this decision is that there’s evidence showing players are at more risk when accessing such products.

The second important rule that the UKGC implemented is related to the maximum wagering requirement, which is now set to 10x. Anyone who’s used online casinos will realize this is huge because most operators have 50x or even more than before.

Based on the information we have, all of these changes will be effective from December 19, 2025. Who knows, the UKGC may decide to change several other rules alongside these.

New iGaming Legislation in Alberta

In the last couple of days, the authorities in Alberta proposed Bill 48: The iGaming Alberta Act. The idea behind these legislation changes is to create the Alberta iGaming Corporation. According to the information, this authority will monitor the private sector’s participation in the specific market. This means that the AGLC will continue to be the province’s main regulator.

Alongside the regulations, the iGaming Alberta Act will also introduce special measures to protect consumers. According to the information, a special self-exclusion system will help people control their gambling behaviour.

Another advantage of the new authority is that it can collect gambling revenues from unregulated operators. This will allow Alberta to reinvest those amounts and promote responsible gambling.

Thailand Moves Forward with the Casino Bill, But Locals Have Restrictions

We reported around two weeks ago that Thailand is considering offering casinos to boost its popularity among tourists. Well, it seems like the cabinet approved the draft bill, but it decided to include interesting restrictions for locals.

According to the news, locals interested in using the casinos will need to pay a TBH 50M deposit requirement and a TBH 5000 entry fee. These suggestions are not live yet because they need to be voted on by the Parliament.

The casino operations within a given complex can have a maximum size of 10% of that complex. In other words, do not expect to find huge casinos like in other parts of the world.

The MGA Warns Users Against Some iGaming Websites

The Malta Gaming Authority is one of the leading regulators in the world, and many companies use its services. Unfortunately, many brands are trying to take advantage of the MGA’s popularity and claim they have a permit from the regulator. Sadly, this is not the case, which is why the MGA decided to warn people that it has no affiliation with some platforms.

If customers are not sure whether the given platform actually has an MGA license, they should visit the regulator’s platform. The site contains a list of all regulated operators, allowing people to quickly check whether a given site actually has a license.

Alongside the license problem, the MGA also announced that it has nothing to do with several URLs related to a casino called God55. The latter focuses mainly on the Southeast Asian market and claims to have an MGA license. Sadly, this is not the case, so users must be very careful when deciding which operators to trust.

BetBlocker Offers Support in French

Responsible gambling is a hot topic in the online gambling community, and companies try to help people with issues. BetBlocker is one of them, and it mainly focuses on the UK and US markets. That said, the brand decided to offer support in French, meaning it is much more accessible to French speakers from around the world.

Following the changes to the app, BetBlocker now supports over 20 different languages. The app itself is free and allows you to block your access to many different gambling websites and applications from all over the world.

Starlizard Integrity Services Announced There Were 159 Suspicious Football Matches in 2024

Football is the world’s most popular sport, with millions of bettors from every corner of the world. Sadly, it is also the sport with the most match-fixing issues, which is why many authorities monitor every single game. One of them is Starlizard Integrity Services, a company that monitored more than 74,000 football matches in 2024.

Based on the information from the company, there were 159 matches around the world that have shown some kind of manipulation. 139 of these games took part in a domestic league and cup competition.

Even though these matches were held in numerous countries, one region has more “representatives,” and that region is South America. Based on the information, 67 of the suspicious matches come from there, so bettors should be careful when wagering on local competitions.

Considering this data, it will be interesting to see whether some of the gambling regulators will focus more on this part of the world. Let’s not forget that Brazil recently opened its doors to iGaming sites from around the world, so we expect South America to become one of the leading regions for online betting.

Macau’s Gaming Revenue is Up By 0.6% From 2024

Macao, China

Macau is one of the world’s leading destinations for gamblers. After waiting for a few months, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau finally revealed the data for Q1 of 2025. According to it, Macau has a 0.6% increase in its gaming revenue compared to Q1 of 2024.

The March 2025 stats reveal that the GGR was $2.45B, just slightly more than last year’s stats. This is good news because Macau struggled to get back on track after its disappointing results in January. Back then, Macau reported a 5.6% decline from the same period last year.

Nevada Generated $1.22B in Gaming Revenue in February

Nevada is the go-to state for gambling in the US because it is home to Las Vegas. That’s why some people may not be surprised that the state generated $1.22B in revenue for February.

The data shows that games like baccarat have decreased by 51%, whereas blackjack has dropped by 21.5%. That said, the stats from the Las Vegas Strip are even more disturbing because the revenue for February was $690m. Although this amount may seem impressive, it is 17.8% less than the one in January and 13.8% less than the same time last year.

Gordon Moody Partners with No Trace

Some of you may have heard of an upcoming movie called Terminal. The latter will be about a British South-Asian man who has a gambling addiction and tries to deal with it. Since the movie focuses on important aspects related to problems with gambling, Gordon Moody decided to partner with No Trace.

Interestingly, Gordon Mopddy will even host a special private event and discussion on April 10. The company really wants to raise awareness about the potential problems related to gambling. In fact, it even started working with Dean Sturridge, who is now the brand’s ambassador.
