Insight into the Bout
The UFC 291 card showcases Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje as the headliners for the “Baddest Motherf***er” title (BMF), along with beloved fighters such as Paulo Costa, Tony Ferguson, and Kevin Holland. However, it’s the co-main event that we’re mostly interested in, with Pereira and Blachowisz going head to head in the cage.
Pereira, currently the top-ranked contender in the middleweight division, is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 291 on July 29th, making his debut in the light heavyweight division against former undisputed champion, Blachowicz.
Most recently headlining UFC 287 in April of this year, the Sao Paulo native suffered a devastating second-round knockout loss to his four-time rival, Israel Adesanya, relinquishing the undisputed middleweight crown in their Octagon rematch in Miami, Florida.
His adversary, the Polish Blachowicz, is the former UFC light heavyweight champion and also happens to be the only fighter other than Pereira to have defeated Adesanya in the UFC.
Currently ranked third in the light heavyweight division, Blachowicz represents a formidable opponent for “Poatan,” and a triumph for either of the two would undoubtedly position them as contenders for the championship. For Pereira, a victory also represents a rare chance to become a two-division champion in the UFC.
Join us ringside on July 29th and get those bets in at Roobet to score a K.O. of your own this coming Fight Night!
