Betfred to Sponsor World Matchplay Until 2023

Betfred is one of the few betting operators worldwide that sponsors darts. The company is an active sponsor of the PDC World Matchplay event, and we are happy to report that it has decided to extend its sponsorship for another five years.

The announcement came just a few days before the big event in Blackpool. An interesting fact is that Betfred has been alongside the Professional Darts Corporation for more than a decade. In fact, it started sponsoring the World Matchplay in 2019.

Speaking of the event, it will feature many of the world’s best darts players. The defending champion, Luke Humphries, will do everything he can to defend his title against the competitive lineup, but we’ve yet to see if this will happen.

Light & Wonder Got a UAE Supplier License

The casino in the UAE will be an intriguing attraction because it will be the first ever casino there. Following the reports about several software suppliers that secured the right to offer their times, we have another name that joins the rest – Light & Wonder.

The most recent news confirms that the brand got a vendor license by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority. This means it will offer land-based gaming machines, table games, as well as iGaming content in the UAE. The latter will enter the regulated gambling market soon.

This decision was another win for Light & Wonder as the company continues to grow in size and profitability. Just a month ago, the brand expanded its BetMGM partnership and also acquired another company in the industry.

Simon Westbury is 1xBet’s Strategic Advisor

1xBet has to be one of the most recognisable operators in the iGaming space. The company’s been around for many years, and a few days ago, it decided to name Simon Westbury as its Strategic Advisor. This is a new position within the company that will try to help with its long-term growth and international presence.

Westbury is not a new name in the iGaming sector. Under this new rule, he will work with 1xBet’s leadership and will do everything in his power to help the brand reach new markets. This move was anticipated because loads of other operators have done the same. This made the situation for 1xBet harder because the brand can’t stand out as much as before.

The Police in Indonesia Arrested 22 Individuals Related to Illegal Online Gambling Activities

Southeast Asia is one of the places where you can often hear stories about illegal gambling activities. The most recent news comes from Indonesia because the police force arrested 22 people linked to an online gambling syndicate. The interesting part is that the syndicate had its operating servers in Cambodia and China.

Based on our research, the group had brands like Akasia899 and Tanjung899, and each member had a large amount of money at the time of their arrest. These people tricked local Indonesian SIM cards and created multiple accounts that were distributed to users.

Following the operation, the authorities seized 354 mobile phones, a car, thousands of SIM cards, and ATM cards.

Bet365, Pixbet, and Betano are Among the 43 Brands Sued in Brazil

Ever since the authorities in Brazil decided to regulate the iGaming industry, the country has become one of the hottest spots in the world. All big companies want a piece of the pie, so it’s no surprise that brands like Pixbet, bet365, and Betano are also involved in it. Sadly, it seems like a total of 43 gambling operators (including these 3) have a lawsuit against them by the Public Defender’s Office of Rio de Janeiro.

Based on our information, the suit is against the fact that these brands did not do enough to promote responsible gambling to consumers. According to it, they did not offer clear warnings about debt or addiction.

The lawsuit is for BR300M, and aside from the companies mentioned above, it also affects brands like Sportingbet, Stake, Betfair, Novibet, and many more. In addition to the amount of money, the suit also demands that operators have at least a 10-second warning about the problems related to gambling.

67.9% of bet365’s Betting Slips for the FIFA Club World Cup came from Spain, Brazil, and the UK

The FIFA Club World Cup ended a few days ago, but it was one of those events where people did not know what to expect. This is especially true when it comes to betting because there was a lot of uncertainty around it.

Now that the event is over, we can see that it was more popular than many people thought. According to bet365, one of the biggest iGaming operators in the world, the majority of bets placed on it came from three countries: The UK, Spain, and Brazil.

There were some expectations about the FIFA Club World Cup final and its potential popularity compared to the UEFA Champions League Final, but this was not the case. In fact, the stats reveal a 21.6% decrease in betting activity.

India’s Authorities To Summon Meta and Google Regarding Gambling Ads

The Enforcement Directorate in India decided to summon the senior officials from two of the largest companies in the world – Google and Meta. In fact, the ED had already done that before, but since they did not respond, they reissued the summons.

The reason why they want to talk to these people is because of an ongoing money laundering scheme related to ads run on these platforms. These ads are related to unauthorized betting platforms operating in India. The hearing is scheduled to take place on July 28, so we will have to wait to see what’s going to happen.

Coral Will Continue to Sponsor Glorious Goodwood

Coral is one of the leading UK online bookmakers when it comes to horse racing. The brand sponsors several big competitions, and will continue its sponsorship deal with the “Glorious Goodwood”.

The most recent news shows that Coral and the Qatar Goodwood Festival have renewed their partnership for three more years. The operator has already been sponsoring the race for 3 years, so the new deal will ensure we will see the bookie’s name until 2027.

Following this deal, there will be 11 races bearing the operator’s name, 9 of which will be on TV.

There was a Complaint Against Hollywoodbets in the UK

Hollywoodbets is one of South Africa’s leading iGaming sites, and it also operates in the UK. Sadly, the brand has been in the news lately because of a complaint from a 16-year-old. He saw an ad about Hollywoodbets after logging into Virtual Football League, a website that belongs to EA Sports FC.

Following the report, Hollywoodbest blamed the company’s affiliate partner. After the accusations, the latter said that the ad was approved and the company tried defending its actions by stating that most people who use this platform are over 18 years of age.

After the investigation, it has become clear that the ad breached three CAP Code rules related to gambling ads. Following the review, the ad won’t be used again.

It’s worth remembering that the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK had a similar situation with LiveScore Bet in June. In that instance, the company breached two of the three CAP codes.

Over 643K Player Accounts in the UK Have Some Kind of Restriction

The growing popularity of online gambling in many parts of the world has led to loads of gambling-related issues. Since the UK is one of the leaders in iGaming, it is also one of the countries with the most problem gamblers, and the recent data from the Gambling Commission proves it.

According to Andrew Rhodes, the CEO of the Gambling Commission, 654,779 gambling accounts have some kind of restriction. This number is staggering because it accounts for close to 4.31% of all active gambling accounts (there are almost 15M).

While some accounts only have one restriction, others have several. The most common measure that people take is to regulate their maximum stake (62.17% of all restricted accounts have that).

Interestingly, the 2nd-most popular responsible gambling measure used in the UK is account closure. 51.69% of users who have some kind of restriction have used this, but the interesting fact is that it does not always work. It seems like some operators are not complying with people’s requests.

Aside from the data related to the specific responsible gambling measures, the Gambling Commission also shared intriguing stats about profits. It seems like only 25.42% of active players were profitable, meaning that over 72% have made a loss.
