On Saturday afternoon, Rayo Vallecano and Barcelona go head-to-head at Vallecas in La Liga as both teams look for a winning return after the international break.
Rayo Vallecano form guideThe team from the capital have endured mixed fortunes of late in La Liga and currently sit in 10th place in the standings. A 2-1 home defeat against Girona last time out ended an eight-game unbeaten run for Rayo in the Spanish top-flight.
On the flip side, though, Francisco’s team has drawn six of their previous eight matches in La Liga.
Their recent league matches have been relatively high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their previous six La Liga games.
Rayo Vallecano have failed to win in their last four matches in the Spanish top-flight. However, the Girona defeat ended a four-game unbeaten home run. Their recent league games at Vallecas have certainly not been short of goals, as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 11 of their last 13 matches.
Barcelona form guideThe reigning La Liga champions went into the international break on the back of a 2-1 home win over Alaves. The victory means that the Blaugrana have won three of their last four matches.
The decent run has kept Barcelona in the hunt for top spot, although Xavi’s team is currently in third place in the table, four points adrift of surprise league leaders Girona in the race for the Spanish title.
Barcelona are unbeaten in their previous five away games in La Liga, recording three wins and picking up two draws in the good run.
The visitors have been prolific on their travels of late in the Spanish top flight, scoring at least two goals in four of the last five matches in La Liga.
What am I backing?Rayo has been difficult to beat but has struggled for wins, while Barcelona have found some consistency of late. The bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored, though, as I believe it will be a high-scoring affair.
