Serie A sees the first midweek fixture list of the season take place this week, and we've got the majority of games taking place on Wednesday night. Amongst those is this tie, where Verona host Atalanta, with both sides looking to build on the start they've had, although the home side are now looking in need of a win.
Verona Form GuideThe reason for that is because Verona come here with two wins, but they came in their first two games of the season. Since then, they've lost twice and drawn a game, so they've dropped off, and will be looking to get back to winning ways before this streak stretches a little too far for them.
Wins over Empoli and Roma got the season off to the best possible start for Verona, and while there's an argument to be made they didn't play anyone doing well, you can only beat what is in front of you. Since then though, they've faced tougher opposition, and failed to win, with a point against Bologna the only time they've avoided defeat.
Atalanta Form GuideAtalanta come here with three wins and two defeats from their first five games. They've not been consistent though, winning then losing and following that pattern until this game. They arrive on the back of a win against Cagliari at the weekend, beating them 2-0 in what was ultimately a comfortable success for the team.
The two losses they've suffered so far have both been away, against Frosinone first and then Fiorentina more recently, but they have won once away from home this season, beating Sassuolo 2-0 on the opening day of the season. It's been rock solid to start, with a little more consistency, it could be even better.
Match PredictionBoth sides have shown form to win this, but we've seen it more recently from Atalanta, and they are the pick to win this game based on that. Verona have struggled since a good start, at home they have a chance, but ultimately, I think the visitors will be a little too strong and eventually force the win.
