League One saw the majority of games called off again last week, due to the international break, but we are back with a bang, and with some interesting clashes. League leaders Portsmouth are in action on Saturday, and they take on 8th placed Blackpool, a side hoping to get into the playoff spots in the next few weeks.
Portsmouth Form GuideIt's been very impressive from Portsmouth so far this season, I like what they have done. 10 wins and 6 draws, they remain the only team without defeat in League One, and are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. But that's only good enough for a one point lead at the top of the table, with both Oxford and Bolton just one point back, piling on the pressure.
Pompey were held by Charlton last time we saw them, two weeks ago, a game they drew 2-2 at home. But we've seen them fight, and pull points from games they were struggling in. This team just knows how to get the job done, winning 3-2 at Reading after being 2-0 down, is a prime example of this.
Blackpool Form GuideBlackpool are looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking. I had them down as being the most likely to do it, and they're living up to that, although when I saw them a few weeks back, they didn't offer anywhere near enough attacking threat, and I still get the feeling that with their current squad, they'll just miss out.
Two wins, two losses and a draw have come in their last five in the league, with a win in their most recent game. That was a 4-0 success over struggling Shrewsbury. But when they've come up against good sides recently, they've lost, this happened away at Bolton 1-0 and at home to Peterborough 4-2.
Match PredictionPortsmouth are my pick here, flying high in League One, they know how to win and I think they will have a bit too much quality for Blackpool in this one.
