Ferencvaros and Olympiakos go head to head on Thursday night, one of seven games from the Europa Conference League playoff stage that takes place, all of them being 2nd leg ties to see who makes it through to the knockout phase. It's all to play for in this one, with the away side Olympiakos holding onto a slender 1-0 advantage from game one.
Ferencvaros Form GuideIt was close for Ferencvaros last week, as they almost pulled off the result they were looking for. It was clear they had a game plan to frustrate, and try to make the game as boring as possible, hoping to come away with a draw. They did, for 83 minutes, but conceded at the end, leaving them with a one goal deficit to overturn here.
We are going to need to see another side to them here, being at home and with something to chase, they will need to be on the front foot and how they can adapt to that different style is likely to determine who wins this game.
Olympiakos Form GuideI thought Olympiakos were the better team last week, but failed to really stamp their authority on the game, and most of the chances they created will go down as half chances, rather than good ones. Eventually in the end, they got an all important goal, and now they go away from home, with something to hold onto.
I think we'll see a similar game to the first meeting, but this time with the roles reversed. I think Olympiakos will be the team to sit in and hope to defend any pressure away for 90 minutes. If they can do that, then they will be the ones hitting the knockout phase of this comeptition.
Match PredictionI think we are in for a very tight, low scoring game here, with a lot at stake, but not quite enough quality to make things happen. I don't expect much other than defensive play from Olympiakos, and I think that will be enough for them to qualify. In 90 minutes, I will take the draw here.
