We’re back with the final international break of 2023 as we continue down the road to UEFA Euro 2024. It’s safe to say that things are really starting to heat up in pretty much every group as nations qualify and make their push to reach the playoffs. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing battle between Hungary and Montenegro.
Hungary Form GuideHistorically speaking, Hungary have enjoyed some truly memorable moments in their international history - and in recent times, they’ve done well to qualify for the last two editions of the European Championships. They reached the round of 16 back in 2016, and even though they didn’t get out of the group stage in 2021, they fought as hard as they could throughout and impressed the masses.
Hungary probably got a bit complacent in their most recent outing yesterday as they only managed a 2-2 draw against Bulgaria.
Montenegro Form GuideWhen talking about Montenegro alongside Serbia, it’s clear and obvious to see that they are the minnows out of the two - if there was to be such a title. They’ve certainly made some progress here and there which is obvious for all to see, but a real run at reaching big tournaments feels quite far off for now. They need superstars, and they haven’t got the infrastructure for that right now.
Montenegro needed to stay calm and do their job when they played host to Lithuania yesterday, and they did just that. They picked up a 2-0 win to keep the train rolling in their hunt for qualification.
Match PredictionThis one has the potential to be really exciting with two nations that have some genuinely big ambitions for what they can do in the years to come. It’s going to be tense, it’s going to be back and forth, and our official prediction is that we’ll see over 2.5 goals scored between them.
