The UEFA Champions League returns to our lives once again this week as we enter the second half of the group stage. At this point, all 32 clubs are well aware of what their objectives are as they prepare for the final three-game stretch. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what is bound to be an electric clash between FC Copenhagen and Manchester United.
Copenhagen Form GuideFC Copenhagen have been known as a team that can take a few scalps here and there in the Champions League and as two-time defending champions in Denmark, their confidence will be pretty high right now. They have a strong crop of prospects to run alongside their veteran talent which, in our view, could well be enough to get them firing in this game and beyond.
Copenhagen did well to secure a point away to Galatasaray, but it could’ve easily been three as a late equaliser left the scoreline at 2-2. From there, they were edged out by Bayern Munich in a 2-1 defeat, before missing a late penalty against Manchester United in a 1-0 loss.
Manchester United Form GuideManchester United supporters probably felt as if their League Cup win last season was a sign that times were changing for the better - but it seems as if there are more than a few hurdles they still have to overcome. The fans aren’t happy with the owners, there are numerous scandals off the pitch, and Erik ten Hag has more pressure on his shoulders than ever before.
United were flattered by a 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich in a game that they largely struggled in. They proceeded to lose 3-2 to Galatasaray in a pretty dramatic encounter, and then against Copenhagen, a late penalty save from Onana ensured they edged past Copenhagen in a 1-0 win.
Match PredictionCopenhagen need to really lean on the idea that they can create an intimidating atmosphere in this one. There’s still a chance they could reach the knockouts if they can just keep their focus, and although United got the win in the reverse fixture, they were fortunate to do so. In our view, this will end in a draw.
