We've got a top v bottom clash on Saturday in the Championship, with Southampton, who are going really well, travelling north to take on Huddersfield, a team who are really struggling, despite a managerial change. Both sides need three points, for very different reasons, and this is the first game in a big period, as we head into a busy few weeks.
Huddersfield Form GuideHuddersfield appointed Darren Moore to try and steady the ship, but his arrival and the takeover from Neil Warnock hasn't really gone to plan so far. Huddersfield are just on the edge of the relegation zone, one place above it, and four points ahead of Rotherham, the highest of those in the bottom three.
A 2-1 success over fellow strugglers QPR was intended to give Huddersfield a bit of fight and hope, but they have failed to win any of their four games after that win. That run has included big defeats, 4-0 at home to Cardiff, 4-1 away at Leeds, and a better performance, but still a losing one, when they were beaten 1-0 by Hull in their last game before the international break.
Southampton Form GuideOne of the favourites to get straight back up into the Premier League, Southampton have been very good so far, but may come to rue a poor patch of form not too long back. It was a strong start, and it's been good recently, but in the middle they lost their way. Still, they've won nine of their 16 games so far, putting them fourth in the table, in the playoff places but nine points off the automatic promotion places.
Before the break, Southampton racked up an eight game unbeaten run, with six wins and two draws in that period, as well as winning their last three games in a row. The most recent was a 2-1 success over West Brom, where Southampton were very professional and got the job done nicely.
Match PredictionI fear for Huddersfield, and don't think we'll see them get much better until we hit the transfer window, and for that reason, I am backing Southampton to get the win here. In good form before the break, I fancy them to continue that by winning this one.
