The first international break of the season is over and now, it’s time to get back to business as the English Premier League returns for a brand new slate of fixtures across September. There’s still a lot we don’t know about all 20 clubs in the top flight but we’ll get some more answers this weekend, as we get set to see Wolverhampton Wanderers lock horns with Liverpool.
Wolves Form GuideWhile there have been a few positive signs for Wolverhampton Wanderers up to this point in the campaign, there’s no denying that there are still more questions than answers. Nobody is clear as to whether or not Gary O’Neil is going to work as a long-term managerial appointment, but when you take a look at their squad, it certainly feels like they should be aiming higher than they currently are.
While they put up a spirited display against Manchester United in their opener, Wolves came away with a controversial 1-0 win. They proceeded to lose 4-1 to Brighton before nice wins over Everton and Blackpool in the cup, before falling short in a tight 3-2 defeat away at Crystal Palace.
Liverpool Form GuideLiverpool fans are rejoicing at the fact that Jurgen Klopp has, seemingly, been able to reinvent the midfield in a strong way, giving them the opportunity to start fresh. It’s a case of so far, so good for the Reds but there are still plenty of ways in which this can go south, especially if the injury bug comes back to bite them as it has done over the course of the last few years.
The season began with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea for Liverpool but since then, they’ve been on fire. They beat Bournemouth and Newcastle in nice comeback wins, before tearing through Aston Villa in a ruthless 3-0 win that surprised many.
Match PredictionWe don’t think there’s going to be any ‘running out winners’ type of behaviour in this one, but we do expect Liverpool to be the team that dictates the pace. It’ll be a tight and entertaining affair but ultimately, the prediction we’re going to give is that under 2.5 goals will be scored.
