The first international break of the season is over and now, it’s time to get back to business as the English Premier League returns for a brand new slate of fixtures across September. There’s still a lot we don’t know about all 20 clubs in the top flight but we’ll get some more answers this weekend, as we get set to see West Ham United lock horns with Manchester City.
West Ham Form GuideWest Ham United supporters haven’t known days as good as this for a long, long time. They have a European trophy in their cabinet, they’re looking good in the league, and David Moyes is as confident as he’s ever been in his current role. The Hammers are flying at the moment and at this level, there’s nothing more beneficial for a team than confidence and momentum.
A 1-1 draw against Bournemouth had some scratching their heads but ever since, West Ham haven’t dropped a single point. They beat both Chelsea and Brighton 3-1 in huge wins, before avoiding a banana skin to defeat Luton 2-1 away from home.
Manchester City Form GuideManchester City, as we all know, are coming off the back of a treble-winning season. The aim is to try and repeat that achievement and so far, they’ve done an excellent job of leading people to believe that’s exactly what is going to happen. Pep Guardiola is a mastermind and at the Etihad, you’d have to imagine the current feeling is that they’re untouchable on the pitch.
City overcame an electric atmosphere to defeat Burnley in their season opener and since then, they’ve been pretty much perfect. They beat Newcastle 1-0 and Sheffield United 2-1 before going off on Fulham in a 5-1 demolition at home.
Match PredictionWest Ham have the kind of style that could really hurt City, especially when you consider some of the troubles they’ve already had this season. Alas, we’re talking about Pep here, and he’ll believe he has the formula to make some magic happen - which is why we’re backing a Manchester City win.
