The English Premier League is back this weekend with a handful of intriguing fixtures as half of the clubs in the top flight rest up during their portion of the winter break. There’s still so much left to be decided as we continue on through January, and it’s hard not to be excited about what’s to come. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between Sheffield United and West Ham United.
Sheffield United Form GuideChris Wilder is officially back as Sheffield United manager and although many fans were happy to see him walk back through the door, there is a whole lot of work that needs to be done to this team. They are one of the firm favourites to get relegated back down to the Championship and with some big fixtures on the horizon, they have to grind hard for every point they can get.
After beating Brentford, United lost 2-0 to Chelsea before earning a big point away at Aston Villa. They did go on to lose to Luton and Manchester City, but in the FA Cup, they avoided a potential upset in a dominant 4-0 win over Gillingham.
West Ham Form GuideWest Ham United supporters haven’t known days as good as this for a long, long time. They have a European trophy in their cabinet, they’re looking decent in the league, and David Moyes is as confident as he’s ever been in his current role. The Hammers are flying at the moment, but at the elite level, it can be so easy to slip back down if you don’t keep your guard up.
Following a 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the League Cup, West Ham put together back-to-back 2-0 wins over Manchester United and Arsenal. They proceeded to draw with Brighton in the league and Bristol City in the FA Cup, before the Championship side stunned them 1-0 in the replay.
Match PredictionSheffield United are going to push the pace in this game, if for no other reason than they have to start taking chances. Of course, the Hammers aren’t the kind of team to just lie down and take that, with our prediction for this one being over 2.5 goals scored.
