The Premier League returns once again this weekend as we continue to march through the first month of the new campaign. There’s still a whole lot we have to learn about all 20 teams involved in this season’s top flight, and on Saturday, we’ll find out more about Brentford and Bournemouth as they clash at Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford Form GuideBrentford serve as a shining example of what is possible through the pyramid system. Very few neutrals expected them to come up, and even fewer would’ve expected them to still be residing at the top table. Alas, here they are, and they look better than ever. They’ve made a handful of shrewd moves in the market, and it still feels like they can beat just about anyone on their best day.
The Bees were able to open up the season with a nice 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham, and they followed that up with a 3-0 win over neighbours Fulham. From there, they were held to a point by Crystal Palace, before squeaking past Newport on penalties in the League Cup.
Bournemouth Form GuideBournemouth fans have passionate owners, a new manager, and some new signings that are raising more than a few eyebrows. When you string all of that together, you’ve got a club that is more than ready to make some noise in the top flight. The Cherries certainly have a long way to go, and a relegation battle is still likely, but the outlook for the club is feeling really positive.
After kickstarting their campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against West Ham, Bournemouth faced tough tests against Liverpool and Tottenham - losing both by two goals. In the League Cup, they had to overcome some adversity, but they ultimately managed to defeat Swansea 3-2.
Match PredictionThis feels like it’s going to be a pretty tight game between one team with a lot of expectation on its shoulders, and another that hasn’t really gotten out of the gate yet. It’s going to be a technical affair with a lot of great football being played at either end of the pitch, ending in the two sides splitting the points in a draw.
